Marcellus shale oil production
The Marcellus is a large and prolific area of shale gas extraction from the Marcellus Formation of Devonian age in the eastern United States. The shale play encompasses 104,000 square miles and stretches across Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and into eastern Ohio and western New York. It is the largest source of natural gas in the United States, and production was still growing rapidly in 2013. The natural gas is trapped in low-permeability shale, and requires the well completion method of hydr Recent Marcellus Shale drilling activity and results suggest that the most substantial hydrocarbon production takes place roughly southeastward of the 0.6 percent Ro maturity contour in the Ohio's Utica Region now included in EIA's monthly Drilling Productivity Report. Marcellus region to provide 18% of total U.S. natural gas production this month. Bakken oil production forecast to top 1 million barrels per day next month. Production, depletion trends are keys to predicting natural gas and oil production. The Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC) works with exploration and production, midstream, and supply chain partners in the Appalachian Basin and across the country to address issues regarding the production of clean, job-creating, American natural gas from the Marcellus and Utica Shale plays.
From 2007 to 2016, annual U.S. oil production increased 75 percent, while natural gas of gas or brine migration from hydraulic fracturing in Marcellus Shale.
The shale is located deep below the earth's surface and, when fractured, can produce a large amount of natural gas. DEP's Bureau of Oil and Gas Management regulates the safe exploration, development and recovery of Marcellus Shale natural gas reservoirs in a manner that will protect the commonwealth's natural resources and the environment. DEP is responsible for reviewing and issuing drilling permits, inspecting drilling operations Although the 141 trillion cubic feet estimate is only about six years' worth of natural gas consumption for the United States, companies have leased land, drilled wells, built pipelines, and made other investments that anticipate a much larger amount of gas in the Marcellus Shale [7]. 19 Jul 2016 In one sense, the natural gas extraction business is much like the real estate business: The key is "location, location, location."
